Reteaching Gender and Sexuality

This video launched two nights ago, from an absolutely amazing group of young people. Entitled “Re-Teaching Gender and Sexuality”, the video features young queer people sharing their thoughts on American culture/heterosexism, and the real life experiences of queer youth. It’s only 3 minutes long, but the producers of the video also have a documentary, called “Put THIS On The Map”, which voices the experiences of queer young people in Suburban Washington State. The team of queer youth educators associated with the film travel and do trainings in places that range from high school classrooms to hospitals to 200+ person mental health training conferences. The entire team affiliated with PTOTM are incredible, incredible people, and this video only serves to highlight the amazing things that queer
youth are capable of, and the ways that we are engaging to take charge of our own lives. Help put us on the map? :)

Sorry i’ve been away

I’ve had a really rough week at university. Some of it regarding gender and some of it not. I don’t post so well when I’m really down so yeah.

I hope you’re all ok.

Aw, I hate this part.

I started my period this morning. which I loathe so much. 

I put off getting something which would help reduce my menstration to a minimum because I was told i’d be getting hormones as soon as I turned eighteen, so I didn’t see the point if I only had a year or so more to bear of it. And sometimes they don’t even work, can make them heavier or make you gain weight, which I don’t want.

I’m still waiting for hormones though because my psychiatrist was not doing her job as she promised and ended up holding up the process. She even sent a letter to forward me somewhere else stating “she”.

Which makes it look like I’m not serious about my transition.

Anyway. 

Recently my periods have become more regular and a little lighter, because i used to have them very erratically throughout the months and they’d be constantly painful for up to 10 days.

I hate being reminded I do actually have a uterus and I’ve been so convinced I’m a man for so long I often forget and when I look down and my boxers are spotted with blood I get so worried there’s something wrong. Which makes me laugh a little afterwards. “Help! There’s blood coming out my penis! … oh wait ¬_¬”

I take paracetamol constantly to ease the amount of pain I get. It just gets annoying having to wear pads and such because then I can’t use a public toilet. Too awkward.

Gah. So these next five-seven days, I’m likely to be a bit of a bastard D:
